Heard about this conference at the University of Bedfordshire today from Souvik Mukherjee, who was one of the speakers at the recent Philosophy of Computer Games Conference 2008 held from May 8th-10th at the Department of Arts and Media - European Center for Media Studies at the University of Potsdam.
Though the Bedfordshire University conference is now over, a number of papers and games presented there are accessible via the conference website: [http://underthemask.wikidot.com]

Presentation of the event:
'Under the Mask: Perspectives on the Gamer' will be held on Saturday June 7th 2008 at the University of Bedfordshire.
Under the Mask is a one day conference focusing upon the multi-faceted issue of the gamer; culturally, socially, psychologically, professionally, the list of masks worn by the player is endless. This conference aims to penetrate that mask, investigating why it is worn, how it is used, and how it is constructed by gaming culture, game developers, and by the players.
There will be a full programme of papers from academics working in the field.
'Under the Mask' will also provide a unique opportunity to play, watch and make games amongst fellow gamers.
